Dead Battery

January 7th, 2010 by Gabe Van Wormer.

The all to familiar clicking sound barily reaches my semi-frostbit ears before I realize, it's going to be one of those days. Reports of great walleye fishing up in Saginaw are starting to come in and I'm making a trip into town for an ATV battery. Sure, the ice isn't quite thick enough for me to put my ATV and gear on top of it, not to mention my petite (yeah right) frame. No, but it's close, very close. It'll only be a matter of time before we are making those bone chilling rides out of Linwood or any number of bay ports to try to ice some walleye. Usually for me this end up in dissapointment. But, the hope is that someday I'll understand the bay well enough to be semi-consistent. In the meantime, I'll do what I can to learn everything I can glean from the old timers out there who spend more time in their shanties than I do in my office.

The reels have been re-spooled with new line, the jig and spoon boxes rearanged and I finally found that box of jigging Rap's that dissapeared mid-winter last year. So, if you'll excuse me, I've got a battery to buy...
