Head Hunter
HSUS Fires A Shot At Michigan Hunters
March 3rd, 2010 by Tony Hansen.I've never been one to cry wolf.
Yeah, maybe that's a lame play on words but, in this case, it's appropriate. In last Sunday's Detroit Free Press there was an editorial on why wolves need more protection by Jill Fritz.
Ms. Fritz is an employee of the Humane Society of the United States. This is not the group that runs local animal shelters. It is an anti-hunting animal rights organization. The "Humane Society" portion of its title is nothing more than a clever marketing scheme designed to fool well-being people into donating money. It is a Washington D.C. lobby group with deep pockets which it used to pour millions of dollars into the fight to end dove hunting here in Michigan. Ms. Fritz is also a former student coordinator for PETA and national coordinator for the Farm Animal Rights Movement whose members follow strict vegan-based diets and its policies are anti-dairy, anti-meat and anti-animal production agriculture.
How about another play on words: This is the wolf in sheep's clothing and, unfortunately, it appears the Free Press fell victim to the ruse.
Several months ago, Michigan United Conservation Clubs cautioned the outdoors community that something was up when HSUS assigned Ms. Fritz to Lansing. Looks like we were right. And we seriously doubt that it's just the wolf issue that provoked the group to base a staffer in Michigan.
Over the course of the next few days, I will be systematically debunking the myths and lies that Ms. Fritz and HSUS are spreading about the wolf issue. And, no, I don't think those words are too harsh. The HSUS is not a fan of the truth. It lied openly and often during the dove bill fight and it's absolutely lying now about the wolf issue. See, I don't like liars. I don't like groups that believe they can force their beliefs on others through lawsuits. I don't like those that think heaps of cash can purchase one of our freedoms.
I'm a hunter. I'm an angler. And I am not for sale.
The HSUS is a very large, very powerful political machine. I'm not. What I am is a Michigan hunter that refuses to simply sit on my hands and let people lie about me, my heritage or what hunting is really all about. That's precisely why I choose to work for MUCC as its Deputy Director and media guy. It's my job to see that any time this type of garbage is strewn about that someone cleans it up. And that's what we're going to do with this issue. I'm currently in the midst of gathering as much factual, science-based information as I can. I will present that information here in these blogs. You won't get a bunch of emotion-laden drivel from me. What you'll get is cold, hard data. See, I happen to believe that laws should be followed even if I don't agree with them. And in the case of the wolf and the Endangered Species Act, HSUS has repeatedly sued and stomped its wing-tipped shoes like spoiled children in an effort to break the law.
We'll dive into this issue more fully tomorrow. So check back then. But for now, I want you to do me a favor. Visit this site: http://wolfcomments.blogspot.com/
There you will find comments from the type of people that fund HSUS and the type of people that believe we, as hunters, are immoral heathens. I'll be blogging about Robert Millage -- the guy who all those comments are directed towards -- and sharing information about the history of wolf management in the West and explaining exactly how Michigan -- and other states -- have followed the letter of the law on wolves.
Read the comments. And then ask yourself: Who is it that's really "humane?"

WOW that blog link was an eye opener. These people are completely on the fringe and it is scary that there are so many vulger comments about this great hunt.

I have spent the last weeks on the yellow tail wine facebook page that wasn’t to bad. Then the Pilot Travel centers thing came up —the animal rights folks certainly take exception to questions, which they never answer but sure talk alot. I really doubt I can take this current blog at the moment—maybe in a couple days !! There is probably a whole different humans rights group on this, with the same personality as the wolves they are trying to push on us.

Wow Tony! Great blog entry. I really appreciate you hitting back hard at HSUS. Word is spreading due to folks like you. The web link you provided was great. Hadn’t seen that one in my research so thanks for that. If you haven’t already, check out the newly launched HumaneWatch which is watch dogging HSUS.

Wow, the Vegan Jihadists sure came out in force to flog Robert Millage, didn’t they?
I’ve been referring to these folks as Evil, Death-Worshipping Fascists for some time now, and nothing I saw there, or in darling Ms. Fritz’s rant, has done one thing to change my opinion.
Keep up the good work, no matter how many Vegies screech at you or threaten your family’s lives.
The only difference between these terrorists and the more traditional variety is the fact that organic brain damage from their inadequate diets has made Vegan Jihadists universally stupid.

Thanks all.
The antis can say whatever they want to me. They can call me whatever name they want.
But there are two things they can’t do:
1. Take away my rights to hunt and fish without one helluva fight.
2. Make me stop smiling when I have a fish on or a buck in range . . .

Great article Tony!! HSUS has set its sights on Michigan and it is about time the citizens of Michigan really learned what HSUS is not. It is not a humane society nor does it run or own any humane societies. There are a lot of organizations in Michigan that know this and are working towards getting HSUS out of the state. It’s hidden agenda is to do away with animal agriculture, hunting, and pet owning. They hide they agenda in bills they have legislators present for passage, and some are only a line or two, little by little they add up.
