Radio Time

Just finished my first interview for Mike Avery's Outdoor Magazine radio show. I think it went pretty good.

Mike Avery, for those unfamiliar, is a Michigan resident who has a TV show that airs on the Outdoor Channel and also host a radio show. He's also done some work with Mark Romanack's Fishing 411 show which airs on the Sportsman's Channel. Both shows are solid and I'm pretty proud to consider both of them as friends and friends of MUCC and Michigan OutofDoors Magazine.

Mike's radio show, which airs on about two dozen channels on the weekends, has a strong following. Mike called me earlier this week and said "Hey, I know that I'm not as up to speed on the hot outdoors news topics as I should be. Would you be interested in speaking for MUCC because I know you guys are on top of those things."

Here's what I really liked about that: Mike is a media guy. I'm a media guy. We both need advertisers and sponsors and supporters to keep things moving. You might think that we'd be competitors. But we're not. We're both hunters and anglers from Michigan. And we both realize that the sum of the whole is what's important. I really respect the fact that Mike was willing to boost an area that he perceived to be a weakness. That shows that he cares about his product and his listeners. And, of course, it's good for MUCC and MIchiganOutofDoors.com because the more people we're able to educate on the outdoors issues of the day, the better off we all are. So thanks Mike for having us. I hope we can do this far into the future.
